Press reports reported today, Wednesday, that Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech will officially sign with Moroccan club Wydad Sports Club in a free transfer deal after the expiration of his contract with his former Turkish team, Galatasaray.

Italian journalist Fabricio Romano stated on his Instagram account that after agreeing on the deal today, the Moroccan star will return to his homeland from Wydad Gate.

“Ziyech was available as a free agent, and after several calls, he is ready to start a new chapter with Wydad, signing a one-year contract,” Romano wrote.

It is expected that the official announcement will be made by the Red Club in the coming hours, after the final financial and contractual details are finalized.

Ziyech, 32 years old, returns to Morocco after periods he spent at the Dutch clubs Ajax Amsterdam, the English club Chelsea, and the Turkish club Galatasaray.

This move comes after his contract with the Turkish club was terminated earlier this year, where he contributed 7 goals and 10 assists last season.

Wydad is seeking to strengthen its squad for the local league and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup, as it faces Asante Kotoko next Friday in Morocco, in the second leg of the round of 32.

Wydad won the first leg away from home with an unanswered goal, bringing them close to qualifying for the group stage.
