Best Overall: Fiskars Lopper and Pruner Garden Tool 3-Piece Set

Why We Chose It
Whether you have a small yard or a big one, owning a set of pruning tools is a must. Fiskars Lopper and Pruner Garden Tool 3-Piece Set has the essential gardening gear to keep your bushes, plants, and flowers neatly trimmed. You can also use these to cut small tree branches; keep hedges straight; and clear weeds, vines, and overgrowth with minimal effort.
Each tool is made of heavy-duty steel blades for enhanced durability and performance. They feature comfortable handles with the company’s SoftGrip technology, which is designed to reduce fatigue and provide a non-slip grip, making cutting and hedging easier and safer.
These tools are super sharp, which makes every cut a breeze. I appreciate that I can cut branches up to 1.5 inches thick using the lopper without much effort. Best of all, Fiskars’ gardening tools are not only built to last, but they also come with a lifetime warranty, making them well worth the investment.
Best Electric Trimmer: Toro 60V MAX 17-Inch Telescoping Carbon Fiber Shaft String Trimmer

Why We Chose It
If you’re not on the battery bandwagon yet for lawn and garden tools, Toro 60V MAX 17-Inch Telescoping Carbon Fiber Shaft String Trimmer will convince you. It’s lighter, quieter, and easier to maintain.
It’s impressive right out of the box, featuring a telescoping carbon-fiber shaft; cast aluminum motor head; comfortable, adjustable grip; and wide 17-inch cutting width (a 15-inch is also available). It’s nimble and maneuverable with the rear-mounted battery providing a solid counterbalance to the cutting head once you dial in your fit by adjusting the handle and shaft with quick-release tabs. It has a variable speed trigger that works with little to no lag, fine-tuning the head speed to take on light to heavy jobs with finesse. A high/low switch also gives a bit more control over how fast the head spins.
The best part of the trimmer, which is available on most new models, regardless of power source, is the easy-to-feed head that eliminates the pain of popping off the cover and winding string back on to get it right before clunkily reassembling it. All you have to do is pull out the leftover line, stick the new line in the eyelet and out the other, then turn the head until it’s all loaded up. (Bonus: It holds twice the line of older models.) It comes with a powerful 60-volt battery (and charger) that lasts up to 45 minutes.
Best Lawn Mower: Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 20-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower

Why We Chose It
Battery-powered push mowers like Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 20-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower keep getting stronger, more efficient, and durable every year.
If, like me, you hate having to pull a cord to get your mower started, then you’ll appreciate one of the best features of this electric tool: its easy-start button. No more annoying yanking. Ryobi’s mower is designed for flat yards of up to half an acre and offers a three-in-one clipping disposal option, allowing you to choose between bagging, mulching, or side discharge. I love using the mulching option, which is a lot less work (no bagging necessary) and gives my lawn extra nutrients.
The mower comes with a 40-volt rechargeable battery (providing a runtime of up to 45 minutes), a seven-height adjustment lever that allows you to choose from 1.5 to 4 inches, and a brushless motor that enhances the tool’s lifetime and power. Plus, the 20-inch cutting deck means more cutting per run. If you’re limited on storage space, the mower can be folded and stored in a vertical position, saving room. It comes with Ryobi’s five-year warranty, and the battery comes with a three-year warranty.
Best Hedge Trimmer: Ryobi ONE+ 18V 22-Inch Cordless Hedge Trimmer

Why We Chose It
A hedge trimmer is the perfect tool to keep all your bushes and shrubs looking sharp year-round. This easy-to-use Ryobi Hedge Trimmer is equipped with an 18-volt rechargeable battery running up to 21 minutes per charge, a high-performance motor delivering 3,200 strokes per minute, and a dual-action 22-inch blade with a ¾-inch cutting capacity, making trimming a breeze even with mature bushes. Cleaning overgrowth has never been more satisfying. Plus, if you already own any other Ryobi 18V ONE+ products, the battery for this tool is compatible with those items as well.
As with any other rotating tool, the best way to take care of your Ryobi Hedge Trimmer so it runs without any issues over its lifetime is to keep it well-lubricated. The good news is that the company offers a three-year warranty for the product, providing peace of mind that if something goes wrong during that period, you’ll be covered.
Best Gas Leaf Blower: Echo 25.4cc Gas 2-Stroke X Series Leaf Blower

Why We Chose It
Echo X Series PB-2620 Leaf Blower has a blowing capacity of 172 miles per hour, providing enough air to clear small, medium, and large piles of leaves, as well as blow grass clippings and debris away from your driveway. The unit features a comfortable rubber grip handle designed for minimal vibration and increased comfort, two different attachments (an open-ended tube and a flared one) for more targeted power and flexibility, and a gas-powered two-stroke engine that requires a mixing of gas and oil.
In addition, this leaf blower gives you the option to operate at a set speed using cruise control, features a fuel tank capacity of 20.3 ounces, and a second handle that allows you to control and maneuver the tool easily in different directions. Although the leaf blower weighs less than 10 pounds, you have the option to purchase a shoulder strap to reduce fatigue when using it for extended periods. Echo offers a five-year warranty for this powerful tool.
Best Battery Leaf Blower: Toro 60V Max 900 CFM Leaf Blower

Why We Chose It
Moving massive amounts of wet leaves isn’t a challenge most old battery blowers can overcome, but with brushless motors and high-voltage batteries, the newest crop of leaf blowers can get real work done. One of the best available is Toro 60V Max 900 CFM Leaf Blower.
It’s rated to 900 CFM (this is the amount of air it can move in cubic feet per minute), which is very close to what commercial-grade, gas-powered backpack blowers put out—and 165 mph (which is close to gas-powered numbers like the Echo above). Those top speeds are achieved when you hit the Turbo button, which conveniently will stay on if you have the regular, variable speed lever pushed to continuous mode. Which you’ll want to do a lot, as hitting the Turbo button and leaving it on is how I cleared my yard, patio, and shed interior in about 20 minutes. This thing rips and is a joy to use with the aforementioned “cruise control,” comfortable, grippy handles, and well-balanced construction.
It comes with a powerful 60-volt, 4-amp-hour battery that’s rated to last for up to 120 minutes if you have a massive yard and can stomach blowing leaves for that long. But the high power of this brilliant blower can also take on dirt, snow, and other debris you want out of your way. The sound it generates isn’t bad, especially on the regular speeds, but when Turbo kicks in, it does emit a slightly piercing tone, though it’s miles better than what a gas-powered commercial blower puts out.
Best Power Washer: DeWalt 2600 PSI 1.1 GPM Electric Jobsite Pressure Washer
Courtesy Image
Why We Chose It
In the past you had to have a smelly gas-powered power washer to really tackle the tough jobs. While battery-powered washers aren’t quite there, electric ones are just as good, and a whole lot more compact, like DeWalt 2600 PSI 1.1 GPM Electric Jobsite Pressure Washer.
Out of the box, this power washer is small—69 percent more compact than the previous version and only 27 pounds—and it’s even more impressive when you open up the accessory door, which hides the wand and nozzles. The inside of the door has helpful graphics to make sure you select the best nozzle for the job, which is a great addition. Power is there, too, cleaning a mossy canoe, sprucing up a filthy patio, and prepping siding for paint with ease. We also love the rectangular shape, which makes storage and transporting more straightforward than with the bulky rolling models. It’s also pretty durable since the sides are strengthened by four aluminum bars

What to Look for in the Best Lawn and Garden Tools
The best lawn and garden tools will vary depending on your yard, geographic location, and needs. You want to get efficient and comfortable tools that are easy on your body and also make gardening more enjoyable. Here are the key factors to consider when purchasing lawn and garden tools.
Comfort
Taking care of your lawn and garden is a physical chore that, as with any workout, gets easier with repetition over time. That said, it’s still important to choose tools that are comfortable to use—look for products that include handles with a good grip and feature anti-slip or anti-vibration technology, especially for those items powered by gas or batteries.
Durability
A good gardening tool is built with durable materials that can withstand the task of cutting, clipping, and trimming over many years. Things to look for are tools made of heavy-duty steel, strong wood, or fiber materials that won’t break easily and that are easy to sharpen. As a general rule of thumb, a tool backed by a strong warranty is synonymous with quality and resilience. Always aim to buy tools with the longest warranty period.
Power Source
When purchasing power tools, such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, and hedgers, consider the power source. Both gas and battery tools have their pros and cons. Nowadays, they both offer almost the same capabilities. Battery-powered tools are easier to use, make less noise, and emit zero fumes, but you’ll have to stop what you’re doing to recharge the batteries if they die in the middle of a task. On the other hand, gas-powered tools can run for longer periods, are generally more powerful, and are the best choice for larger properties. However, they are noisier and require more maintenance. Choosing between these power sources is ultimately a personal decision that will come down to your individual preferences.
