[WATCH] John Steenhuisen’s ‘cringe’ dance moves go viral – again

Not for the first time, Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen has whipped out his dance moves at a political rally.

The Minister of Agriculture and the rest of the political party announced that former leader Helen Zille would be Johannesburg’s Mayoral candidate for the 2026 elections.

JOHN STEENHUISEN SHOWS OFF DANCE MOVES

On Saturday, 20 September, the DA held its Joburg Mayoral Candidate launch in Soweto, welcoming Helen Zille as the prospective new leader of the city.

The event was filled with plenty of music and celebrations, which leader John Steenhuisen enjoyed on stage. The Minister was seen showing off his fancy footwork as members of the party sang and danced.

On the X app, many South Africans found Steenhuisen’s moves both amusing and embarrassing….

@leolimza: “IT’S JOHN FOR ME DOING A FROG JUMP”

@esethu_sn: “@SAPoliceService, Please arrest John Steenhuisen for that atrocious movement because that can’t be categorised as dancing”

@H89394Heidie: “He’s going to split his pants!”

It’s not the first time John Steenhuisen’s moves have made headlines. Last year, the politician danced to a struggle song at the launch of the party’s manifesto at the Union Buildings.

In 2021, Steenhuisen became a hot topic after he showed off his moves to the hot track John Vuli Gate during a political rally.

Speaking to residents of Steve Tshwete municipality in Mpumalanga, the party leader played on the lyrics of the song to push his political agenda, stating that the DA would “vuli gate [open the gate] for a better future.”

‘JOBURG NEEDS BLUE MUTHI’

Speaking during the launch, John Steenhuisen claimed that the DA was what Joburg needed to succeed.

“Johannesburg needs a good dose of blue muthi. We need a blue jova [injection] to put in the arm and rescue this patient. We’re going to fix it and make it healthy again, and it’s going to be a great city.
