Apple has released the dates the next season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will stream and a first look at a terrifying new Titan.
Here is all you need to know about the next chapter in this Monsterverse saga that connects the past and the present through family drama and spectacular science fiction action.
When does season two start?
The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters debuted in November 2023 and concluded in January, so fans of the series have already waited two years for its return.
That wait will come to an end Feb. 27 when the first episode of season two becomes available to stream Apple TV.
Then a new episode will drop every Friday until May 1.
What is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters all about?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is part of the Monsterverse, which follows legendary monsters (known as “Titans”) such as Godzilla, King Kong and many more along with the humans who track them as part of a secretive organization called Monarch.
In season one, viewers were introduced to Cate Randa and Kentaro Randa, siblings whose family is wrapped up in Monarch via their father, Hiroshi, whose parents were researcher for Monarch.
Other main characters include scientists Keiko and Bill Randa and U.S. Army colonel Lee Shaw.
Shaw is played in the present by Kurt Russell and the past as a young man by Wyatt Russell.
While Godzilla was a catalyst for storytelling in the first season, season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will apparently revolve around a new titan that may be the most powerful yet.
The origin of “Titan X” is unclear, but it possesses awe-inspiring power revealed in a trailer that dropped this week.
The Monsterverse began with the 2014 edition of Godzilla and continued through 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, and most recently Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Next up is Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is set for release in 2027.
What else is Apple cooking up?
In addition to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Apple TV has an agreement with Legendary Entertainment to produce multiple spinoff series based on the franchise.
The first is yet untitled but will follow a young Lee Shaw and feature Wyatt Russell reprising that role while also serving as executive producer.
Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm star alongside the Russells in Legacy of Monsters.
Apple TV is available on the Apple TV app, which is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and many popular smart TVs and streaming devices such as Fire TV sticks and Chromecast as well as PlayStation’s and Xboxes.
