Manchester United and Everton icon Wayne Rooney has revealed he locked his wife Coleen out of their house after she put up Liverpool flags.
Despite her husband playing for Liverpool’s two biggest rivals, Coleen Rooney, who has been married to Wayne since 2008, supports the Reds.
When Liverpool won the Premier League title in 2020, Coleen celebrated by putting up flags outside the family house, which upset the former striker.
‘When Liverpool won the Premier League a few years ago I came home, I was [a player] at Derby at the time, and Coleen’s got Liverpool flags up outside the house,’ he revealed on BBC podcast The Wayne Rooney Show.
‘It was our old house, so outside the front door there’s a little balcony thing and the flag was outside the window there, so I told her to go and get it down.

‘She went up and you had to actually climb out the window to get it down, so she went up and I locked her out.’
Quizzed how long Coleen was stuck outside for, Rooney added: ‘Not too long.’

Liverpool’s top-flight title triumph in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp was the first time the club had been crowned champions of England in 30 years.
It was Liverpool’s 19th top-flight trophy – before they matched United’s tally of 20 by winning the 2024-25 Premier League title under Arne Slot.
Rooney makes Liverpool vs Everton prediction

Meanwhile, Rooney has revealed his prediction for the latest Merseyside derby this weekend as Liverpool host Everton at Anfield.
‘I think the big thing is David Moyes coming back,’ Rooney said about Everton’s strong start to the 2025-26 season.
‘He’s come back. He knows the club. He knows the culture of the football club and then I think the signings have been really good.
‘They look dangerous now, Everton, going forward with Jack Grealish and Carlos Alcaraz they look really dangerous going forward, Everton, and solid as well at the back.
‘So yeah, I think Everton can go there and get something. They have to be at their best and defend as a unit and be hard to beat.
‘But Moyes’ teams normally do do that. Hopefully we can get the three points. [I would] take a draw.’
Liverpool head into the Merseyside derby top of the table, having been the only team to win all four of their opening Premier League fixtures.
Everton, meanwhile, are sixth having only lost one game, with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last time out.
