“We continue to industrialise,” Mnangagwa insists amid Western-imposed sanctions

Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa has vowed to keep his country resilient in the face of the Western imposed sanctions.

Mnangagwa has expressed gratitude to citizens and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for their continued support. He says they help in the fight against sanctions imposed on the country.

Sharing his message on social media, Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe remains steadfast in its pursuit of progress despite the economic restrictions.

He highlighted the nation’s ongoing efforts to industrialise and modernise.

“Today (25 October), I thanked Zimbabweans and the SADC region for standing with us in the fight against illegal sanctions,” he said.

“Despite these unjust measures, we continue to industrialise, modernise, and grow.”

He also announced the launch of a new book documenting the country’s resilience and innovations under his administration, known as the Second Republic.

SADC says sanctions hurt Zimbabwe’s trade and investment

In a statement issued on 25 October 2025, SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi said the economic sanctions are still hurting Zimbabwe’s ability to take part in regional trade.

He added that they are also limiting the country’s access to investment and disrupting supply-chain links.

The statement calls for the immediate and unconditional removal of “all unilateral coercive measures” affecting Zimbabwe, arguing these measures block growth not only in Zimbabwe but across the SADC region.
