“We don’t tell lies”: Sheinbaum on Simón Levy

President Sheinbaum said that all information her Government publishes is supported by sources and is not false.

Mexico City, October 31 (However).– The President Claudia Sheinbaum was questioned again this morning about the case of Simon Levywhere he laughed and then clarified that the issue was not raised in the morning since it is not a central subject for your Governmentbut arose from a question posed by a reporter.

“We didn’t even want to mention this person, he is not central to the morning, what happened is that they asked us,” Sheinbaum explained.

The head of the Executive recalled that Simón Levy himself had declared that he was in Washington and that he had been the victim of an attack, but – as he noted – the version collapsed when he appeared in an interview held in a well-known restaurant in Portugal.

Furthermore, he added that his Administration did not introduce the issue, but decided to show the corresponding documentation after the information presented was questioned.

“We did not bring up the subject, but we were asked, and as later it was said that all this information… that is why yesterday we presented the document from the Portuguese police,” he said.

“We don’t tell lies. Now, the information came from him; it was he who said that and that invention about what had happened to him was given flight. But we try to ensure that everything we do has sources,” he stated.

Sheinbaum insisted that his Government tries to verify and support with documents all the information that is shared publicly, and reiterated that there was no falsehood in the data disseminated about Levy’s arrest in Portugal and that when they make a mistake they recognize it.
