WEATHER: Brace for wet, windy conditions across three provinces

Residents in parts of the North West, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State should brace for windy and wet conditions on Thursday, 15 January, as rain and thundershowers are expected to affect several areas.

NORTH WEST

Partly cloudy and hot conditions are expected, with isolated afternoon thundershowers possible.

MAHIKENG

The provincial capital will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated afternoon thundershowers. Temperatures are forecast to range between 17°C and 32°C.

KWAZULU-NATAL

The northeastern parts of the province are under a Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rain, with heavy downpours expected to cause flooding of roads and settlements, displacement of communities, and major traffic disruptions due to road closures. Western areas have been issued with a Yellow Level 2 warning.

DURBAN

Cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers are expected. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 28°C.

FREE STATE

The province can expect partly cloudy and hot weather, with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers are forecast. Temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 35°C.
