WEATHER: Brrr alert! Gauteng to wake up to icy mornings from Monday

Residents of Gauteng can expect extremely cold but dry weather conditions, as temperatures are set to drop significantly across the province starting Monday.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast clear skies for most of the week but warns of frigid morning temperatures, urging people to wear warm coats and take winter precautions.

Although July has been relatively warm compared to June, as the month comes to an end, temperatures in some regions are expected to hover around 2°C during the mornings.

Here’s the weather outlook for Gauteng next week

In Pretoria, Monday will bring cooler weather, with a minimum temperature of 4°C and a high of 15°C. In Johannesburg, temperatures will dip to a low of 3°C, rising to 13°C by midday before cooling again in the evening.

On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching a maximum of 14°C in Johannesburg; however, the SA Weather Service has not predicted any rainfall.

From Wednesday onward, temperatures are expected to improve in Gauteng, possibly indicating the end of winter as we approach August.

Regarding Sunday’s weather, after Saturday afternoon’s temperatures reached 23°C in the northern parts of the province, the SA Weather Service predicts cooler conditions for Gauteng on Sunday.

Earlier this week, The South African reported that a strong cold front was expected to hit Gauteng; however, the latest weather forecast indicates that no cold front or rain is expected next week.
