You may want to brace for more severe weather conditions expected over KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, and the North West on Wednesday, 17 December. Here’s what the skies have in store for you.
KWAZULU-NATAL
Most of KwaZulu-Natal has been issued with an Orange Level 5 weather warning for severe thunderstorms. This could lead to flooding of some roads, settlements and low-lying bridges and areas, as well as excessive lightning, strong and damaging. Damaging winds and hail are also expected in most of the province except on the south-east coast.
DURBAN
Over in KZN’s largest province, Durban, you can expect partly cloudy conditions, with widespread showers and thundershowers. Light wind is also anticipated. The temperature ranges from 24°C to 30°C.
FREE STATE
The weather service issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for the Free State – Severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding, damaging winds and large amounts of hail are predicted.
MAHIKENG
In the Free State’s capital city, it will be partly cloudy, with scattered showers and thundershowers. You can expect a low of 17°C and a high of 27°C.
NORTH WEST
In the North West province, it will be partly cloudy and warm despite a Yellow Level 2 warning being issued. Showers and thundershowers are also expected.
BLOEMFONTEIN
In Bloem, the country’s judicial capital will be cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers. The temperature ranges from 17°C to 25°C.
