Wednesday fans have been left in disbelief at the brevity of Lady Gaga’s appearance in season two of the show, after the hitmaker’s much-hyped addition to the cast.
The Born This Way singer was part of a raft of stars added to the show credits, with the likes of Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd and Billie Piper – all of whom appear in the first part of the season.
Details of Lady Gaga’s appearance were kept under the thickest of wraps over at Netflix HQ, with her turn as Rosaline Rotwood held back until the second part of the season.
Rotwood was described as a ‘legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday’ – but only legendary enough to warrant the briefest of scenes in the sixth episode.
In a moment she shares with Jenna Ortega alone, Gaga’s teacher Rotwood appears with bleached brows and an ethereal white dress as she scolds Wednesday Addams for entering her chamber.

But fans haven’t taken issue with Gaga’s performance itself so much as its length – with many noting the hyped appearance barely clocks in at two minutes.

Taking to X after the second batch of episodes dropped this week, @AMENARTPOP wrote alongside a crying emoji: ‘Lady Gaga’s appearance in Wednesday season 2 is a minute and fifty seconds long.’
‘I knew Lady Gaga’s cameo in Wednesday was going to be short but GODDAMN she appeared for 70 SECONDS or smth,’ added @hyper_ribs.
‘If I was Gaga and they made me do full glam for a character just to have a minute of screentime I’d be PISSED.’
@Julen16M wrote: ‘Gaga appearing for only 2 mins in the series hahahahahaha,’ as @ILLUMINATIKING added: ‘Gaga’s cameo on Wednesday was really a lil glimpse of screen time….’
But her one scene wasn’t technically the only contribution she made – as Gaga’s new song Dead Dance features in the show in a scene clearly trying to replicate season one’s viral dance moment, but this time starring Emma Myers and show newcomer Evie Templeton.
Metro’s thoughts on Wednesday season 2 part 2
Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cook shares her take…
You can’t fault this cast of heavyweights. There are just too, too many of them. The woe-centric second season might not quite have a sophomore slump, but it’s certainly contracted a case of sophomore swell.
The result is you forget certain stars are part of this spangled cast until they suddenly pop up again.
The real travesty is that this is often at the expense of Jenna Ortega’s exceptional screentime, not to mention a truly woeful dearth of Thing-content.
None of this is to say that the second half of the season is terribly bad. It just gets tied up in knots trying to do too much.

Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough confirmed that Gaga’s guest appearance came about as a result of last season’s viral dance (with moves inspired by Siouxsie Sioux and Bob Fosse, among others), which TikTokers set to her deep cut track Bloody Mary and was credited with the show becoming a smash hit.
‘She was interested, we were interested,’ Gough told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘But she’s Lady Gaga, she’s very busy. So we were able to work out a character for her to play, a time for her to come and do it.
‘We all know she’s an amazing actress, so we were just thrilled that she could come and play in the sandbox.’
Meanwhile, Ortega described Gaga as ‘unbelievably sweet and giving’, and hinted that Gaga’s screen appearance might indeed be a brief affair as she told E! News: ‘To be able to spend a day with her shooting was an absolute dream.’
In the same interview, Catherine Zeta-Jones added: ‘I think just having her presence on the isle of Ireland just lifted everybody up. She’s a queen. She’s on the level to be in her presence for any amount of time is very memorable.’
Wednesday season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
