‘Werewolves’ spotted roaming the streets of UK town in spooky ‘Howloween’ goings on

Three 'wolf-type animals' seen roaming the streets of Preston have been detained by specially trained dog handlers. Officers were called to the Barton and Broughton areas of the city on Thursday afternoon (October 30) after reports of 'howling wolves roaming the neighbourhood'. Sightings have been made in recent days on Station Lane as well as Hollowforth Lane and Eaves Lane with speculation on the 'This Is Broughton' Facebook group that they could be 'coyotes or golden jackals'

Preston residents have been spared an unexpected Halloween fright after three wolf-like animals were captured prowling the streets.

The spooky animals were reported near Station Lane in Barton at around 4.15pm yesterday.

Specially trained dog handlers were brought in to get the wolf-like creatures under control and they were taken to a safe location, police confirmed.

‘Tonight our officers responded to howling reports of wolves roaming the neighbourhood’, Preston Police said in a social media post.

‘After a thorough search (and a few goosebumps) we can confirm a pack of trick or treaters were (wolf) located.

‘They are now safe and sound in bed.

‘Happy Howwwlaween!!’

Locals were quick to speculate the identity of the unknown creatures, with some quipping they may be ‘werewolves’.

However the original witness, a resident called Keith, said the animals were not in fact wolves at all.

He wrote: ‘It was me that called the police and these were not wolves. They looked wolf like but were walking on their hind legs.’

A clip of the pale-coated animals showed them being spotted by a passing driver as they sniffed the entrance to a driveway.

Some were quick to point out the ‘wolves’ looked ‘domesticated’ and seemed unbothered by the nearby vehicle.

‘Someone has kept these wolves as pets or they would have run off poor things’, a resident commented.

Another local suggested the hounds could be either Czech wolfdogs or American Indian dogs, both breeds which resemble wolves.
