Travis Kelce is all anyone can talk about, whether it’s his skills on the football field or his recent engagement to Taylor Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end has become the topic of conversation, especially on whether the spotlight will affect him leading up to the Super Bowl.
At the One Bite Pizza Festival, Barestool Sports founder Dave Portnoy gave his thoughts on whether Kelce has what it takes to help the Chiefs reign in another Super Bowl win. In an interview with PageSix, they brought up Portnoy’s previous post on X, where he stated the Chiefs are “cooked” due to the footballer’s rise in fame outside the sport.
“Well, he’s old in football terms, first of all,” said Portnoy about the 35-year-old. “He’s definitely on the back nine of his career.”
“I just think football is one of those games where if you’re not 100% focused and in, you lose track of what’s going on on the field,” he explained.
“And how could you be if you’re getting engaged to the most famous woman in the world,” he added. “I just think the Chiefs, their dynasty is on the downside.”

Whether Kelce being in the spotlight will ultimately hurt the team this year is up in the air. The recent Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles game garnered attention as it was the first Chiefs game with his fiancée in attendance. Swift arrived at the stadium concealed by a solid divider as she walked the hallways to avoid photos being taken.
That’s not all, as Kelce was seen visibly upset during the second quarter of the game, which led to the footballer aggressively slamming his helmet to the ground. He was heard saying, “I’m sick of this s–t.”
ESPN’s Nate Taylor also published a lengthy feature article explaining that the 2025 season might just be Kelce’s last in his career. Several members of the Chiefs’ organization have thrown around the word “retirement” for Kelce and his future on the team.
