LeBron James is many things: NBA superstar, entrepreneur, philanthropist and even a part-time actor.
He is also famously a father, and it turns out the advice he gave one of his sons before heading off the college is pretty relatable even to dad’s who aren’t the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
That is according to Bryce James, a freshman for the Arizona Wildcats basketball team who met with reporters this week for the first time since joining the squad.
“Just working hard, coming in here, doing what you do best and also just like making sure even if you’re not having good days, always have a stay positive mentality,” Bryce told the media in Tucson (per local reporter Eliav Gabay). “Maybe you missed a shot, don’t hang your head down. Always keep your head up. Just push through, stay positive.”

That approach has served Papa James well, so it sounds like something Bryce will be able to use as the Wildcats pursue a spot in the NCAA Tournament (which is staying at 68 teams for now at least).
He arrived at Arizona with less fanfare than his other brother, LeBron James Jr., who goes by Bronny.
While Bronny was a four-star prospect among the top 30 players in the country in the class of 2023 per 247Sports, Bryce is a three-star prospect ranked No. 284 among all players and 46th among shooting guards.
Arizona lists him at 6-5, 195, and notes in his bio he averaged eight points and four rebounds per game last season as Los Angeles Sierra Canyon High School won the Division I state championship in the CIF.

Bronny James spent one season at USC before being selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut last fall and also spent time with the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
