At the start of the summer, multiple soaps fell victim to schedule changes as a result of sports coverage.

We’ve been blessed with a few weeks of normal routine, but now, altercations are taking place again.

Emmerdale, Coronation Street, EastEnders, and even Casualty had to switch up their schedules due to ITV1 and BBC covering Wimbledon and the Women’s Euros.

Tonight, you’re going to get a surprise if you’re hoping to watch Emmerdale and then Corrie, as one of them will not be airing, while the other is airing slightly earlier than planned.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When are Emmerdale and Coronation Street on this week?

Despite the changes, both schedules for the soap this week are fortunately fairly easy to remember.

For the rest of this week, Emmerdale will air as follows:

  • Wednesday, August 27 – 7-7:30pm (half an hour earlier)
  • Thursday, August 28 – 7:30-8:30pm
  • Friday, August 29 – 7:30-8pm

Coronation Street has aired on Monday and Tuesday this week. Due to no episode tonight, you will have to wait until Friday, 8pm, for the next trip to Weatherfield.

Why has the schedule changed for Emmerdale and Coronation Street?

The EFL Cup Live is airing on ITV1 from 7:30pm. The coverage is due to end at 10:20pm, therefore leaving the soaps with no room to air.

What has happened in Emmerdale and Coronation Street this week?

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) made a major discovery about Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) this week. She learnt that he had attacked Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), and wasted no time in telling Kammy that she cannot have violence in her life.

As far as Belle was concerned, she would no longer be seeing Kammy, but remained unaware at the moment that he is completely innocent.

Elsewhere, there was more drama for April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle). After seeing Dylan get into a stranger’s car, April told Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) about her boyfriend taking on sex work when he lived on the streets.

When Dylan got back, he confirmed that he had sorted another drugs drop off for Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), and was incredibly hurt to learn that April had told Marlon and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) his secret.

Monday’s episode of Coronation Street focused strongly on Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey). She was struggling with the pressures of her job as a young paramedic, and started to wonder if she was really cut out for it.

A flashback sequence saw her attacked by a patient and also deal with a death, with the trauma causing her to suffer a panic attack in the present day.

Asha’s inner turmoil aired alongside Aadi Alahan’s (Adam Hussain) farewell party in the pub. Asha’s twin brother is leaving for a new life in India, and the prospect of Aadi being in another country has been incredibly difficult for her to process.
