Thousands of Oaxacan students will be left without classes this Friday, October 17, after Section 22 of The National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) announced a 24-hour strike throughout the State of Oaxaca, The measure is part of a new day of mobilizations with which the teachers seek to pressure the Federal Government to reinstate the tripartite tables and demand the repeal of the ISSSTE Law of 2007.
According to the official announcement, The protests will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the purpose of demanding the resumption of the central dialogue table between the Single National Negotiating Commission (CNUN) and the Presidency of the Republic, as well as the repeal of the educational reforms promoted during the six-year terms of Enrique Peña Nieto and Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Actions planned during the strike
Section 22 detailed in a statement that, in addition to the total suspension of classes in schools under its administration, dissemination and protest actions will be carried out in different parts of the state. Among them stand out:
- Steering and loudspeaker in urban and rural areas.
- Recording and transmission on local media, such as televisions and radio stations.
- Blocking of roads and toll booths.
- Taking over facilities of transnational companies and Pemex.
- Closure of government offices.
These actions are part of the political and union pressure plan that the CNTE promotes at the national level, but with its epicenter in Oaxaca, the historical bastion of the teachers’ movement.
