After the resignation of Alejandro Gertz Manero to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), 43 people registered in the Senate of the Republic as candidates to occupy the position of this body, vacant since last November 27.
That afternoon, at the end of the session where the resignation of Gertz Manero was validated on fast track, the Senate issued the public call to appoint a new head of the FGR.
Among the requirements, it is established that the applicant must have a Law Degree with a minimum seniority of 10 years on the day of the call and “have a good reputation and commitment to democratic values”, among other requirements.

Of the 43 people who met the requirements of the public call, only six are women, among them Ernestina Godoy Ramos, former legal advisor to the Presidency of the Republic and current office manager of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.

Of the 43 participantsthe Senate Jucopo will select at least 10 candidates to send to the Federal Executive, headed by Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
Subsequently, the President will choose a shortlist that must be presented to the Senate, to continue with the process of electing the head of the FGR.
