“Well, Gromit, we’ve done it again!”
The Grand Appeal’s ‘Gromit Unleashed’ trail is back for its’ third year to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital, as well as celebrating the recently released Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
From June 30th to August 31st, Aardman fans will be able to find the sculptures in 53 spots around the wider Bristol area.
UoB students should look out for the sculptures around the Victoria Rooms, Whiteladies Road, and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, whilst UWE students should keep their eyes out around Patchway, Henleaze, and Bradley Stoke.
Other than the dynamic duo, the trail includes much-loved characters such as Feathers McGraw, Shaun the Sheep, and the newest addition to the Aardman Cinematic Universe, Norbot.
Each character’s design has been inspired by cinema, from Robin Hood to the Great Gatsby, but after the trail ends, the sculptures will be auctioned off; so go and visit them before they’re gone! All locations can be found on the Grand Appeal website.
The trail will be used to raise money for The Grand Appeal, a longstanding charity that supports the Bristol Children’s Hospital. Funds raised by the sculpture trail will go towards life-saving medical equipment, housing and accommodation needs, and creative therapies for children and their families.
Since 2013, The Grand Appeal has raised £20 million through Aardman-themed art trails that go directly to critically ill children, babies, and their families. But don’t worry, Feathers McGraw won’t be showing up to rob you of your hard-earned diamonds, the Grand Appeal encourages donations from those who enjoy the trail, as well as selling themed merchandise (and the sculptures themselves after the conclusion of the trail).
