BBC’s newest game show, Destination X, has come to a showstopping close as our winner was crowned – nuclear engineer Judith.

The Rob Brydon helmed reality series saw 13 contestants go toe-to-toe as they attempted to navigate Europe’s labyrinthian landscapes, and guess exactly where they had landed every episode.

After weeks of clues, challenges and shifting alliances, it all came down to Josh, Judith and Saskia in the final episode as they rolled up to the finish line in Rome.

The climax saw all three racing around the city to solve clues that would lead them to Rob, who was waiting at the Spanish Steps, waiting to receive the fastest player.

After guest appearances from ex-contestants like Daren and Dawn and conundrums featuring ice and Audrey Hepburn, everything came to a head.

In the end, it was Judith who rose victorious, beating out the others to prove their geographical prowess and securing the £100,000 prize.

Sold as a crossover between The Traitors and Race Across the World, the show has amassed a solid fanbase over recent weeks as viewers locked into the edge-of-your-seat final.

As for their thoughts on the winner, fans were absolutely delighted at the outcome, especially as Judith started off on the back foot with no golden tickets and no allies.

‘YESSSS JUDITH!!! Why am I nearly crying,’ niaegregory wrote on X.

‘Brava, Judith Brava !!!’ MsDiva_fabulous shared.

‘Yaaaaass! The most worthy winner,’ khalidaubin97 added.

‘SO glad Judith was the winner. Proper underdog story,’ rachelrooney__ said.

Over the course of the series, we’ve voyaged through cities like Salzburg, Munich and Monaco; encountered high-tech vision-obscuring technology in a bid to stop the cast from picking up on unintentional views; and shed plenty of tears as fan-favourites like taxi cab driver Daren Parr bid adieu.

Elsewhere, there’s been police-themed plot twists, moments when fans have been screaming at the screen with the right answer, and even debate about whether this line-up of members of the British public was the right combination.

Discussing what drew him to the show, the TV star told the Telegraph: ‘I felt about [Destination X] like I did about Would I Lie to You?, that tonally it was a fit for me. A big part was the scale of it.

‘It was very ambitious. I liked the idea of being part of a big show. In that sense it was more like my experience on some of the films I’ve been in.’

There is no word yet on whether the show will return for a second season.

Destination X is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
