Whole Foods Highlights Favorite Supplements Brands.

The semi-annual event is back at Whole Foods. Now through September 9, shoppers can receive 25% off favorite supplement brands. The sale applies to in-store purchases.

Popular brands include Ascent Protein Powder, 365 by Whole Foods Whole Flaxseed, Vive Organic Boost Shots, Nuun Sport and Liquid I.V. Hydration Drink Mix. While the list of included items is quite expansive, it is the savings that has people excited. Saving 25% on supplements that do not often go on sale has people heading to Whole Foods to make a purchase.

Time and again, shoppers are looking for ways to save on food, beverages and supplement purchases. While the value meal wars are a hot topic in the restaurant world, people are just as savvy when it comes to purchasing other staples.

Whole Foods’ Supplement Sale Is a Great Day, But There Is One Caveat.

While the Whole Foods’ supplement sale offering a significant discount, shoppers should be thoughtful with their purchases. Just like produce, proteins and other food have a specific sell-by date or usefulness. Supplements do as well.

For example, protein powder tends to have a shelf life of nine to 19 months. Buying too many containers that will not be consumed prior to its expiration date is wasting food and money. It defeats the purpose of saving through the sale.

If an extra bag of protein powder is purchased via this sale, it is best to store the container in a cool, dry place. As the product ages, it loses its effectiveness. This concept applies to all types of supplements, not just protein powder.

Understanding the type of protein, the ingredients within the product and even the storage contain are important to maintaining its optimum quality. For example, an opaque container is always preferred.

Is the Whole Foods sale on supplements worth making a purchase? If these products are part of the daily routine, the simple answer is yes.
