A woman walking in Wellington, New Zealand, was literally lifted off her feet and thrown into a busy street due to powerful and deadly winds.
The astonishing footage happened on Tuesday morning and was captured on a dashcam as the car waited at a red light. The video shows the woman digging her heels as she walked next to a shopping center.
Reports in New Zealand state wind gusts up to 75 miles per hour pummeled the area, and that was more than enough to lift the woman off the ground. You can see in the video that she’s lifted in the air and carried onto a busy street.
A car drives by before she lands on the street. Just a second or two later, two more cars approach but hit the brakes just in time.
The Deadly Winds
The Associated Press reported that at least one man was killed on Tuesday after a tree branch at a city park struck him as he walked a popular trail in the city.
The powerful winds have caused power outages, wreaked havoc on local airports, and disrupted train services.
What’s more, New Zealand’s weather agency has just issued a rare red warning and a state of emergency, per Reuters.
