‘Farage will form the next government’, says reader

Clive (MetroTalk, Fri) says X now defaults to right-wing ‘propaganda’ since Elon Musk took over.

I would point out that prior to Musk buying what was Twitter, I saw it default to left-wing views. The seesaw of life.

Has Clive considered that the reason we see so much right-wing push in the US is because there was so much left-wing push under Joe Biden’s presidency. In the UK, we currently have the left-wing push from Labour, which will make it easier for right-wing Reform to get elected. If Biden and Sir Keir Starmer had thought things through and been more centrist, it is likely Donald Trump and Nigel Farage wouldn’t be so successful – yes, I’m calling it, Farage will form the next government and it will be Starmer’s left-wing policies that make it happen. Is Jenrick defecting a surprise?

Judging by all the fuss being made about Tory MP Robert Jenrick defecting to Reform (MetroTalk, Mon), anyone might think that he has defected to a political party with ideals and ambitions that differ entirely from his own.

Hasn’t the very conservative Jenrick merely left an increasingly liberal Conservative Party – one that is now ‘conservative’ in name only – for a party more closely resembling what the Conservative Party used to be?

Remaining loyal to any political party simply because of its name – even when it has moved so far from its origins that it is unrecognisable – seems utterly pointless, moreover stupid. At least Jenrick is an MP who appears to know what he believes in – a stark contrast to the majority of today’s politicians. Stefan Badham, Portsmouth

Reader says Reform is now full of ‘has-been wasters’

Time for Nigel Farage to change his party’s name to ‘Reform-A-Tory’ perhaps? I want to vote for change, not the same old has-been wasters who wrecked the economy before Starmer’s lot completely ruined it. William Dixon, Wirral

Will Jenrick run for leadership?

Farage should be very careful in accepting Jenrick into Reform – how long will it be before he puts in a challenge for leadership of the party? Terry, Winnersh

Will US Olympic medals be ‘surrendered’ to Trump?

My American friends close to the White House tell me Donald Trump will soon be issuing an executive order compelling all US Olympic gold medallists to surrender their medals to The Great Leader.

A bit far-fetched perhaps – but I wouldn’t put anything past the deluded clown who now rules that benighted country. Bob Readman, Sevenoaks
