Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been snapped together for the first time in 10 months.
Jada, 53, and Will, 56, have been separated since 2016, with Jada revealing in October 2023 that the couple haven’t officially divorced despite no longer being in a relationship.
The former couple hasn’t been seen together since November 2024, but had a rare date together at an upmarket restaurant.
The I Am Legend actor joined the actress on Saturday as they went out for lunch at sushi restaurant Nobu in Malibu.
Will dressed down in a white cap with a white t-shirt with yellow stripes and a khaki pair of trousers.
Jada went for a more striking look with a hooded bandeau dress in a shade of beige and a pair of aviators covering her eyes from the blazing sun.
Will grinned as they picked up their car from the valet, while Jada had a more reserved look. They then got into the same car together to leave the restaurant.
The pair tied the knot in 1997 and are parents to son Jaden, 27, and daughter Willow, 24. Jada is also stepmother to Will’s older son Trey, 32.
The pair separated in 2016 and while apart, Jada had a relationship with a rapper named August Alsina.
In a Red Table Talk interview in 2020, Jada famously called the relationship an ‘entanglement’, but was unclear about the details of the relationship, with Will firmly denying her Alsina ‘permission’ to date his wife.
In October 2023, Jada spoke about her unique relationship status with her husband.
Revealing they’d been secretly separated for some time, Jada said in an NBC News Special:‘I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.
‘I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.’
Discussing why they didn’t just go their separate ways, she added: ‘I think just not being ready yet. Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership, right, and in regards to how do we present that to people.’
However, since then, it appears that they are still together romantically, with sources saying they live apart but are still together.
In November 2024 the pair were seen looking cosy on a date night, and a source told People: ‘Call it what you want. They are living their own lives but haven’t completely severed ties.’
Another added that they ‘are still together,’ but as far as cohabiting, they ‘have had separate homes for years.’
10 months on, it appears the couple is still enjoying one another’s company with the occasional date night, and are unbothered about explaining their current relationship status.
