The third edition of the Wuhan Open begins this weekend as the first Chinese ranking event of the season gets underway.
Xiao Guodong was the surprise winner of the tournament last year, claiming his first ranking title 17 years after first turning professional.
He comes in as the number one seed as he looks to repeat his success after winning gold at the World Games last week.
Neil Robertson is landing Wuhan after his own huge win at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in Saturday’s final in Jeddah.
After his run to that showpiece, the Rocket has withdrawn from the trip to Wuhan for medical reasons, replaced in the draw by Germany’s Umut Dikme.
Despite the seven-time world champion missing the trip, there is no shortage of star names, with the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Zhao Xintong, John Higgins and Mark Williams all set to be in action.
Players like Wu Yize, Si Jiahui, Pang Junxu, Zhou Yuelong and Chang Bingyu will all hope to replicate Xiao and land their first ranking title on home soil.

The event runs from August 24-30 at the Optics Valley Gymnasium in Wuhan.
