Yoane Wissa is expected to return from injury next month as he does not need an operation on the knee problem he is suffering with.
After a prolonged pursuit over the summer, Newcastle eventually snapped up Wissa from Brentford in a £55m deal.
Along with Nick Woltemade, he has been brought in to replace the goals lost by selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, but he is yet to get on the field for the Magpies.
Wissa played in two games for his country during the last international break, scoring against South Sudan and Senegal, but frustratingly picking up an injury as well.
The knee complaint has been serious enough to keep him out of action since that outing against Senegal on September 9 and he still has a while on the sidelines.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said: ‘He’s receiving treatment and no operation is needed.
‘I think we’re looking at the other side of the international break. We hope he can be fit and available for that first game.’

That means that the 29-year-old is now certain to miss Newcastle’s next four matches, starting with the Carabao Cup third round clash with Bradford City on Wednesday night.
Howe’s side then host Arsenal in the Premier League, before going to Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League and then welcoming Nottingham Forest to St James’ Park in the final game before the international break.
The first game after the international break, which Howe hopes to have Wissa available for, comes at Brighton on October 18.

Wissa had the best season of his career last time round, scoring 19 Premier League goals and 20 in all competitions.
In total he scored 49 times in 149 outings for the Bees in four seasons with the club after arriving from Lorient.
Another summer signing Jacob Ramsey also remains sidelined through injury, as does Fabian Schar.
Woltemade has already played and scored for Newcastle though, although he failed to make much impact in the goalless draw with Bournemouth at the weekend.

‘I thought overall he had a decent game,’ Howe said of the giant German. ‘Some of his link play in the build-up was really good. He was a focal point that we needed and enabled us to get higher up the pitch.
‘As a team, we didn’t function particularly well in the attacking half. There’s no denying that, we weren’t creating chances for him.
‘As a centre-forward, you are reliant on that service and we didn’t provide him with enough. We have to take responsibility for that and try to work to put that right but I see no reason why we won’t score goals.’
