A popular racing game is available for free for PS Plus subscribers, in what appears to be a PlayStation Store blunder.
PlayStation Plus subscribers get a handful of freebies each month through the rotating PS Plus monthly line-up, but one giveaway has seemingly been put up by mistake.
An open world racer called CarX Street is currently available (in Europe, at least) to claim for free on the PlayStation Store if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber on any tier.
The PlayStation 5 title isn’t part of the PS Plus line-up for August or September, and the offer attached appears to indicate it has been done in error. PlayStation Plus subscribers often get discounts but the one for CarX Street is so substantial the game is now free.
This listing has been up for over 24 hours – so it’s unclear why Sony hasn’t fixed it yet, if it is indeed a mistake. CarX Street isn’t available for free on Steam or Xbox, so it seems like the algorithm may be up to some mischief.
At the time of writing, the offer is still available. It’s currently listed as being set to expire on September 10 at 11.59pm GMT, but if it is a mistake it could be fixed at any moment.

There’s a chance Sony might revoke access at a later date if you do claim it for free through this error, but for now, you might as well take advantage of it.
CarX Street, which launched on PlayStation last month, is an open world racer from CarX Technologies. The studio previously created CarX Drift Racing Online, which is set to receive a sequel soon.
A few weeks ago, a GameCentral reader highlighted CarX Street as a worthy alternative to Forza Horizon and Need For Speed, with ‘more realistic handling than any other open world racer’ and ‘extensive tuning and customisation’ for the unlicensed cars. But otherwise we’ve never heard of it and it doesn’t have a Metacritic score.
As for next month’s PlayStation Plus line-up, Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers from September 2. As such, you only have a few days left to claim Lies Of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2.
