Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell has opened up about leaving the ITV soap after 13 years.
Daisy, who is now 22, joined the ITV soap as Amelia Spencer when she was just 7 years old. Everything changed for Daisy last year though, as she filmed her final scenes as the much-loved character.
Amelia departed the village in December after being in a relationship with Tom King (James Chase). After finally seeing Tom for who he really is, Amelia chose to leave and start her life elsewhere with young daughter Esther.
After getting told that she’d be saying goodbye to her soap alter-ego, Daisy struggled.
‘It feels really sad,’ Daisy told Metro at the time. ‘It’s mixed emotions really. It’s been such a tough year, and I’ve had to deal with so much, but I was so at peace when leaving because I’ve grieved.

‘I’m not only grieving for myself, it’s a character that I’ve always played, this is my first ever job from being seven, so it felt really sad. But then it was nice to close the door and be at peace, because I’ve just allowed it to play out as it has this year.
‘But yeah, it’s really upsetting, because it’s all I’ve ever known.’
In a new interview, Daisy has admitted that she did previously have a ‘gut feeling’ that something was going to happen to her character, as her on-screen dad Liam Fox left a year before her.
Still, receiving confirmation that her whole world would change after so long was incredibly difficult for her to process.
She said: ‘When it’s been ripped away from you, because that’s what it genuinely felt like, it was so out of the blue – you do get into a bit of a hole of, oh god, can I do this? It was weird, because it was so abrupt, obviously Liam Fox, who played Dan, my dad, he left the year before, and I just had a feeling…I always get gut feelings.’

Daisy added to The Sun: ‘It was at the beginning of the year, things were quiet. Obviously, we had the new producer come in. And then when it came to contracts, nothing came through, so I was like, “oh”… and then obviously it happened.’
The actress also admitted that she found herself in a ‘dark hole’ after leaving the show.
Daisy’s early storylines in the soap involved the tragic death of Ruby following a helicopter accident in the village and her growing closeness to new step mum, Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) following Ali’s decision to move to Liverpool.
She later discovered her true parentage and later became embroiled in a kidnap plot, when Beth (Annabelle Kaye), a girl who’s father was accidentally killed by Daz in an army training exercise, then, after falling pregnant following a one night stand with Samson Dingle (Sam Hall), she embarked on a relationship with Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), who helped raise her daughter, Esther.
Next came a stalking scandal which Amelia ultimately lost her dad to. Dan was sentenced to 8 years after accidentally killing the man who was harassing her.

What does Daisy Campbell do now?
Daisy has appeared in an episode of Casualty since leaving Emmerdale.
Away from the acting industry though, Daisy recently announced that she has opened her first Pilates studio, something she is incredibly proud of.
‘[At the] beginning of this year I had so much anxiety, after losing my job last winter, and really didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I always knew I wanted to run my own business one day but didn’t know exactly where to begin’, she said on Instagram.
‘After I reflected on what I really wanted to do, I did a level 3 mat and reformer Pilates course over the spring and I’m so proud of myself for passing. I realised that I want help people with lifestyle and fitness, especially through Pilates. I want to create a new community for so many people out there.’
‘This has been the hardest secret to keep. This year I am so proud of myself. I’ve pushed myself in so many ways. In ways, I never could’ve never imagined.’
