Molly-Mae’s sister Zoe Rae has come up with some new justifications for her controversial vlog about a Bali trip.
Zoe and her husband Danny planned a holiday to Bali to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary, but ended up leaving the country after 48 hours because it didn’t meet her expectations.
The couple visited Uluwatu and stayed in the luxury five star Radisson Blu Resort. She explained in a YouTube vlog: “Since landing in Bali, something for us has just not felt quite right. We came to Bali with high expectations because we’d seen on social media everyone having had such a lovely time… like, such gorgeous places to go for food and lovely beaches and lovely gyms, lovely coffee shops. If you took a picture of the coffee shop and zoomed out, you would see what the reality was.”
She added: “If this is one of the better places, then I’m not sure what the other place are like.”
Instead, Zoe and Danny jetted off to the Atlantis hotel in Dubai, where booking a room last minute in July can cost in the realm of £400 to £5,500. “We are making the executive decision to go and enjoy the rest of our anniversary somewhere we know that we love and can just relax and drink water without worrying.”

Many, many people dragged Zoe for her comments. A TikTok user commented: “Bali is not a luxury place. Hope this helps.” Someone wrote on YouTube: “It’s kinda crazy people only do research on TikTok.” Another person wrote on TikTok: “Went to Bali for gyms and coffee shops ?? I can’t.”
Zoe has actually responded to some of the tamer criticisms in the comment section of her original YouTube video. She’s offered more justifications for why she left, and now I’m even more confused.
Someone commented: “Bali is a truly magical place with incredible people! But it is a poor country and I think people forget that and expect it to be like Dubai when that isn’t the reality.”
“I know I wish we did,” Zoe responded, “Oh 100 per cent I wasn’t expecting it to be anything like Dubai. I thought it would be similar to the other counties in SEA I travelled, but I just preferred them sadly! We may try again one day when we have more time.”

Another person wrote: “I’m so surprised by this! My wife and I had our honeymoon in Bali and it was divine. We did stay in a villa in the jungle part of Ubud. The people are so friendly and kind. Yes it’s a developing country but that’s part of the magic. And sadly influencers can be a big problem for countries like this.”
Zoe replied: “So pleased you loved it and I’m gutted we didn’t! I think in hindsight we could’ve chosen a different location but just went where the majority recommended! The people were lovely I agree.”
